Complete human chromosome 8 is published in Nature!

The T2T consortium presented the complete linear assembly of human chromosome 8 that resolves five previously long-standing gaps spanning millions of base pairs. The resulting sequence of chromosome 8, as well as raw data from complementary long-read sequencing technologies, are freely available from the Nature paper. Chromosome 8 is the first human autosome to be sequenced and assembled from telomere to telomere and contains only the third completed human centromere. Two CAB members, Dr. Alla Mikheenko and Tatiana Dvorkina, as well as two former CAB members, Dr. Sergey Nurk and Andrey Bzikadze, actively participated in the project. Congratulations!
